New goals for me include improving my current pace, and building up to a 10K. I plan on using the Bridge 2 10K program. It's for graduates of the Couch 2 5K. I never thought I would like running as much as I have! It is a workout you can do in little time for very cheap! I also find it is easier to handle stress, I feel I have been more patient as a wife and mother! There are health benefits too! I have lost about 16 pounds so far! Woo-Hoo! It's also great for your bones, building muscle, and your heart.. Yes, and your heart.. I saved the best for last.
This race, Go red for women, was put on by the American Heart Association. This was a first annual Go red race in my area! We were the grass roots of a very good thing. My family and I did this race in honor of my dad who passed away 6 months ago from a massive heart attack. We know he would be proud of of all of us. We wanted to do something positive and healthy to honor him. Our family plans on doing this race annually, in his name. We hope to put the word out how serious heart disease is. It is truly the "Silent Killer."
I hope one day just maybe we can find a cure for heart disease. For now though, eating right and exercise are the best ways to prolong your life. Stock up on Fruits, Veggies and Whole Grains, and get some type of cardio exercise at least 30 minutes 5-6 days a week. Do this for you! Start today!
Love it! I'm so happy for you...you are now my inspiration to get moving even more. I would live to be a part of your team next year, too! :)
